Rolls-Royce to Display Spectre and Ghost at Salon Privé
Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire will be the location of Salon Privé later this month for one of the final events of the summer motoring calendar. A particularly luxurious event will have a fitting appearance from luxury British manufacturer Rolls-Royce, showcasing its Spectre and Ghost, demonstrating the scale of the marque’s capabilities.
Spectre is the world’s first luxury all-electric super coupé and signals the beginning of a new electric age for Rolls-Royce, having announced its intention to commit to electric technology two years ago and by the end of 2030, the British marque's entire portfolio of cars is expected to be all-electric. Following its global launch in California last summer, Spectre has undergone rigorous testing to make sure that Rolls’ first electric car meets the grade. It has been tried in extreme conditions and temperatures over 2.5 million kilometres as well as simulating 400 years of use. Two Spectres will be on display at Salon Privé, one in Witterings Blue with Charles Blue interior and another that has been commissioned in Chartreuse and Black Diamond.
At the other end of the scale, also appearing at Salon Privé is the Ghost. The one making an appearance could easily be driven by the Joker with Tuscana Purple finish and Lime Green details on the steering wheel, seat piping, armrests and monogrammed headrests. Rolls-Royce originally released the Ghost in 2009, naming it in honour of the ‘Silver Ghost’ released in 1906. It was designed as a smaller, more measured car than the Phantom, aiming for a lower price category for Rolls-Royce models. That’s not to say it is any less luxurious and two generations of the Ghost have been released, each proving popular as an alternative to the other outlandish and more spacious Rolls on offer. Barring a last minute U-turn, production is more than likely to end sometime before 2030 due to the aforementioned plan for an all-electric lineup.
