Rolls-Royce Celebrates Premier of Electric Spectre

The Rolls-Royce Spectre has fittingly made its UK dealer debut on at the brand’s flagship dealership in Mayfair, London. The world’s first ultra-luxury electric super coupé will now set off on a UK tour, offering potential clients the opportunity to see what all the fuss is about after it was widely praised following its unveiling in October last year.

In 2021, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars declared its commitment to electric technology in the form of two announcements. One was announcing Spectre, the first all-electric car delivered by the brand, and another was that by the end of 2030, the marque’s entire fleet would be fully electric. For such an historic brand to take the plunge like this was a watershed moment in the automotive industry and many others have since followed suit.

After rigorous testing since the announcement across 2.5 million kilometres, we are approaching the period towards the end of this year in which the first customer deliveries of the Spectre are due to take place.

Whilst the Spectre marks the start of a new era of sustainability for Rolls-Royce, its flirtation with electrification cannot be denied. In 2011, it showcased a fully electric Experimental Phantom concept named 102EX, followed by 103EX a little later. However, even as far back as 1900, Rolls-Royce co-founder Charles Rolls foresaw an electric future for the marque, having been impressed by his experience in The Columbia Electric Carriage. The technology’s suitability as a clean, noiseless alternative combustion engine worked in his mind, providing there was sufficient infrastructure to support it. Now, thanks to a mix of legislation and an improvement in science, we are in a time where that is suitably possible. There is no doubt that Rolls-Royce currently provides one of the most comfortable and luxurious motoring experiences. With the addition of all the benefits that going electric brings, perhaps that can be enhanced to a new level.
