NIO Founder Completes 1000+km Journey on a Single Charge
NIO Founder, Chairman and CEO William Li has driven a NIO ET7 over 1,000km on a single charge, marking a new milestone for the company.
Founded in late 2014 in China, the electric vehicle company now produces products and services for customers in over 300 cities around the world and there has even been success in motorsport, with its Formula E team winning the inaugural FIA Formula E Drivers’ Championship in 2015.
Range anxiety is one of the most common issues with potential customers deliberating whether to make the leap into electric vehicle ownership and NIO is making the effort to combat that by showcasing its latest Ultra Long Range 150kWh battery pack. Beginning in Shanghai, the 14 hour journey saw the NIO ET7 travel 1,044km (648 miles) and only use 97% of its battery as it arrived at its final destination of Xiamen in southeast China. This included a short stopover and driver swap and battling cold temperatures which usually reduce EV battery performance and range.
The 150kWh Ultra Long Range battery is compatible with NIO’s entire range of smart EVs and can be charged, swapped or upgraded as part of a Service subscription model using one of NIO’s Power Swap stations. There are currently 2,289 of these in China and 33 in Europe - the latest opening in Amsterdam earlier this week.
