Nicolas Hamilton Returns to BTCC with Un-Limited Motorsport

The British driver returns to racing after a 20 month absence

Nicolas Hamilton will be part of a three-car lineup for Un-Limited Motorsport’s British Touring Car Championship (BTTC) challenge in 2025. The British driver joins new teammates Dexter Patterson and Max Hall in driving a Cupra León powered by a TOCA/M-Sport engine.

The younger brother of Lewis Hamilton made his BTCC debut in 2015 after stints in the Renault Clio Cup UK from 2011-2012 and the European Touring Car Cup in 2013. He returns to the BTCC after a 20-month absence.

Hamilton, who has Cerebral Palsy, made history by becoming the BTCC’s first driver to compete with a disability and hopes his racing exploits can both inspire and raise awareness of disability inclusion in motorsport.

"There is a place in motorsport for disabled people to feel valued and accepted in multiple roles within the sport, and I want to open people’s eyes to that," said Hamilton. "I want to continue to prove that motorsport is for everyone and that racing can be a platform for opportunity and inclusivity. Un-Limited Motorsport and my partners believe in what I stand for, my talent, and my purpose. If I can be accepted, then so can others with a disability."

"It’s fantastic to have Nic Hamilton join Un-Limited Motorsport. He’s hugely determined to get back on the BTCC grid, and I’m proud that we could make it happen," said Bob Sharpless, Team Owner of Un-Limited Motorsport. "Nic is not just an incredibly well-known driver—he’s an inspiration worldwide. The fact that he’s put his trust in our team speaks volumes about how far we’ve come in such a short time. We’re excited to support him on this journey and can’t wait to see what we achieve together."

Un-Limited Motorsport - The Story So Far

Un-Limited Motorsport is a relatively new team and was only founded at the start of 2024 when founder and team owner Bob Sharpless had the opportunity to enter the BTCC. Sharpless had no prior experience running a professional race team and doubts were raised as to whether the team would last for even a handful of races.

Those doubts were soon diminished as the team managed to compete across an entire season, building a strong foundation and ending the season with a P8 in qualifying and a P7 finish during Un-Limited’s home race at Brand’s Hatch. The plan for this year is to build on that early promise and push foward, and having gone from a single-car entry to a three-car lineup for 2025, the signs certainly look promising.
