New 2024 Mini Cooper Electric

Together with some funky coloured camouflage photos, famed British manufacturer MINI has announced details regarding the new 3-door MINI Cooper Electric, due for release in 2024 and available at two power levels.

So, what are the two power levels for the 2024 models and how do they differ? We have the MINI Cooper E and the MINI Cooper SE. The E has an output of 135 kW and range-wise, MINI is hoping it can reach between 186 miles, thanks to its 40.7kWh battery. The SE has 160kW of output, and its 54.2kWh battery provides a range of 248 miles.

MINI insist that full torque is available from the get-go and accelerating can happen without delay or shift interruptions. The battery is installed in the floor of the Cooper Electric for better weight distribution and increased stability. Retaining the nippy, go-kart feeling that has made the brand so successful for the Oxford-based company is key after 60 years of production. The BMW-owned company was able to draw on the expertise of its owner to improve driving dynamics and continue advancement in the areas of technology, efficiency and power delivery.

The MINI Countryman, set to be produced at the BMW Group Plant in Leipzig, Germany from November 2023 and MINI Aceman will complete the new model family from 2024 onwards as MINI looks towards the future.

Prices have yet to be announced but it's sure to be popular. The 2020 MINI Cooper SE sold 43,000 units sold last year, which equates to a 25.5% increase in sales and became the most popular MINI model. One in every five MINIs on the road now are electrically powered and the number can surely only increase over the coming years.
