Mick Schumacher Part of Alpine Line Up for 2024 Endurance Season

Alpine

Alpine has revealed its lineup for the 2024 World Endurance Championship which for the first time includes includes Mick Schumacher. Six drivers will be behind the wheel of Alpine’s two A424 hypercars which are in their final stages of development and homologation.

Schumacher, son of F1 legend Michael, will combine his existing commitments as Mercedes F1’s reserve driver to race for Alpine in the new year. After winning the F3 European Championship in 2018 and Formula 2 Championship in 2020, the 24-year-old German raced for two years in F1 with Haas, only amassing points in 43 starts. Schumacher has already had experience in the A424 having been part of its October testing in Jerez.

Mick Schumacher: "A new chapter is beginning for me with Alpine in the FIA WEC Hypercar category. The car is impressive, and I can't wait to get started. I've grown up with single-seaters, so driving a car with a closed cockpit and covered wheels is a great opportunity to hone my driving skills. I sorely missed racing this year; it's what I've loved to do since I was a kid, and it was sometimes difficult to watch the other drivers take to the track. Endurance racing is a new challenge for me, and I'm sure we will share great moments together next year with Alpine."

Alongside Schumacher in the lineup are Nicolas Lapierre, Matthieu Vaxiviere and Charles Milesi, all of whom are working on the programme with the Alpine Endurance Team. Lapierre has three 24 Hours of Le Mans class wins with Alpine and two world titles in the LMP2 category.

Completing the set are Frenchman Paul-Loup Chatin and Austrian Ferdinand Habsburg.

Among the multitude of races that will be undertaken by the drivers is the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.

Alpine will reveal its crews and the A424 official livery at the launch event on 7 February 2024. before the season begins in Qatar in March.
