MG reveals its first-ever 7-seat SUV — available from just over £34k

This is the MGS9 PHEV — MG’s first-ever 7-seat SUV.

Prices for the MGS9 range from £34,205 to £36,945 as MG looks set to shake up the crowded SUV market in the UK. It may not be as cheap as the Dacia Jogger (£17,700), but it undercuts other 7-seater rivals like the Peugeot 5008 (£39,490), Skoda Kodiaq (£37,820) and Hyundai Santa Fe (£46,950).

The new MG uses the same powertrain as the MG HS, with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine combined with a 24.7kWh battery, giving an electric-only range of up to 62 miles, which the marque says is “more than enough for most commutes”.

Inside, the MGS9 is finished in leather-style upholstery, with heated and massaging seats for ultra-comfort. A large panoramic sunroof and tri-zone air conditioning give plenty of options for

As for boot space, the 2.92 metre wheelbase that the MGS9 sits on means it can offer over 1,000 litres of space when the extra seats in the third row are folded away. This drops to 332 litres when all seven seats are in use.

David Allison, MG UK's Director of Product and Planning, said: "The launch of the MGS9 PHEV represents a significant milestone for MG, marking our entry into the 7-seat SUV segment and further strengthening our position in the large SUV market.”

“As a vehicle that is both longer and taller than the MG HS, the all-new MGS9 PHEV delivers enhanced presence and versatility, offering the flexibility of a third row to meet the evolving needs of modern families and lifestyle-driven customers.”

Further details about the MGS9 PHEV will be revealed later this month.
