Kia EV6 GT to Compete in 1000 Miglia Green

Kia EV6 GT 1000 Miglia Green

After making its debut at Goodwood’s hill climb in 2022 and subsequently causing a storm amongst members of the motoring press, including John Marcar, the Kia EV6 GT will now head to Italy to compete in the 1000 Miglia Green regularity race.

From 13-17th June, the all-electric Kia will test itself against other performance focused and premium EVs from various manufacturers in the 1,000 mile clockwise lap of Italy from Brescia to Rome and back again. The 1000 Miglia Green is special as it showcases the sustainable future of motoring through electrification.

It is a landmark occasion for Kia, which become the first Korean car manufacturer to compete in the 1000 Miglia and by doing so, follow in the footsteps of some of motorsport’s most legendary cars and racers. Not only this, but the Korean brand is also an official sponsor of this year’s Green race, surely hoping to promote and make a bigger impact in one of Europe’s automotive hotspots.

Professional rally driving duo and married couple Jade Paveley and Ross Leach will hope to make use of Kia’s most powerful production car to date as they pilot the EV6 GT during the race. Paveley is no stranger to the EV6 GT, having driven the car in its first appearance last year at Goodwood and her husband Leach has experience on the track and in the world of stunt driving, appearing on TV shows like Top Gear.

When Kia announced its electrification plan in January 2021, the EV6 was the first car to be introduced in a strategy that will see Kia launch 15 EVs globally by 2027, nine of these in the UK. The EV6 GT was brought out to demonstrate that EVs can not only be grand tourers, but high powered in the process and will be followed by the six or seven-seater SUV known as the EV9.
