Hagerty Hill Climb Returns to Shelsley Walsh in 2024

Hagerty Hill Climb

Hill climbing will return to the Worcestershire hills next year on Saturday 11th May as Shelsley Walsh hosts the Hagerty Hill Climb event.

Regarded as one of the best hill climb venues in the world, Shelsley Walsh is cemented in British motorsport heritage having opened in 1905 and has held events continuously since then - only missing events during World War II and the recent pandemic.

Legends of racing like Stirling Moss have made their way up the hill in the past and in 2021 the fastest time was recorded when Sean Gould completed the 910m course in just 22.37 seconds. Unlike a track day, cars will take on the course individually in a non-competitive event in which each driver can enjoy their run at their own pace.

Around 160 road and racing cars are expected to take part in the event, from vintage racers to the latest sports cars. The price to take part is £135, and this guarantees at least three hill climb runs as well as free food and drink.

If you aren’t setting a time in a car, there are plenty of viewing areas as well as a good choice of food and drink, with tickets priced at £25 per car, offering great value for families.

Hagerty International Managing Director said “Hagerty welcomes all types of enthusiast, and our Hill Climb event is a great example of that. Whatever you drive, be it a priceless Italian supercar, ex-racer or the family hatchback, everyone is welcome to enjoy participating in motorsport at this most historic of venues. Of course, Hagerty is also able to insure cars for a day of hill climbing should owners want additional peace of mind before signing up to take part.”

The 2024 Hagerty Hill Climb starts at 8:30am, with the first runs starting at 9.00am. Overnight camping is available at Shelsley Walsh for the night of Friday 10th May, charged at £30 per pitch.

Tickets are available here.
