Gordon Murray Automotive moves T.50 production to new HQ

Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) has moved production of its T.50 supercar from Dunsfold Park to its new premises at Highams Park, Surrey.

Attention at Dunsfold Park will now switch to streamlining carbon fibre monocoque production for T.33 prototypes and future models. The monocoques will now be produced on-site and used for development, testing and homologation-related crash testing, speeding up the supercar’s pre-production processes.

Mofid Elkemiri, Gordon Murray Automotive CEO: “Moving production of our T.33 experimental prototype monocoques into the vacated Dunsfold Park facility accelerates the programme and boosts efficiencies significantly. We are already making excellent progress with T.33 development with our first three mule cars undergoing intensive early testing. The move means we’ll soon be at the stage to share details about the prototype with customers and fans around the world.”

The Highams Park facility, near the village of Windlesham, cost up to £50 million and will be the Gordon Murray Group’s HQ. Set in 54 acres, the site is home to a purpose built 4,300 square metre Vehicle Production Centre and the Gordon Murray Heritage Collection. New customers can also pick up their new GMA supercars from the site after they have undergone final checks at the specially designed Vehicle Dynamics Test Road.

All future GMA models, including 100 exclusive T.50 customer cars, will be produced at Highams Park. There will be 25 track-only T50s Niki Lauda models built after the completion of the T.50 run and then next on the agenda will be the production of T.33 coupe and the T.33 Spider. More than 27 prototype versions of the T.33 coupe and Spider will be built and rigorously tested to ready the cars for all major markets. The six-speed manual T.33 comes with a 617hp 3.9 litres Cosworth GMA.2 V12 engine and 100 coupe and Spider models will be built in total.

Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) returned to the Goodwood Members’ Meeting this weekend to give a global debut to the T.50s track car.
