First trailer released for F1 film starring Brad Pitt
F1 is set to be released on 25 June 2025.
First Trailer Released
The first trailer has been released for F1, the racing film starring Brad Pitt and directed by the man behind Top Gun: Maverick, Joseph Kosinski.
Pitt, alongside teammate in the film Damson Idris, has been filming scenes for F1 during several races across the last two seasons, most notably popping up at last year’s British Grand Prix where he lined up next to drivers from the rest of the grid.
He was back for this weekend’s race at Silverstone, donned in his fictional APX GP team race suit conducting ‘post race’ interviews in the role of Sonny Hayes, a veteran driver who returns to Formula 1 after a long absence. Lewis Hamilton is one of the film's producers and has been heavily involved in the script, helping to make it as authentic as possible.
Budget and Production
Apple has bought the rights to the movie, and given a budget of around $140m, although estimates have put the actual figure north of $300m.
The trailer has very little dialogue and shows Pitt and Idris on track while ‘We Will Rock You’ plays in the background. Javier Bardem and Tobias Menzies are among other names to star in the film, while fans of Formula 1’s Drive to Survive documentary will recognise former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner in the trailer.
Further filming will take place in races in Hungary, Belgium, Mexico City and Las Vegas before concluding in the season’s final race in Abu Dhabi in December.
F1 is set to be released on 25 June 2025.
