Ferrari Luce interior examined in further detail in new video

Ferrari has released a video giving further insight into the interior of the Luce, the Prancing Horse’s first-ever fully electric car.

The Luce’s name and interior were teased by Ferrari back in February in a series of images, with the Italian marque working alongside San Francisco-based creative collective LoveFrom on the project. LoveFrom founders Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson had previously been involved in a range of different designs, with Ive’s previous work including the iPad, iPhone and MacBook products.

The video begins with the Prancing Horse key being placed into the holder, bringing the Luce to life and showcasing its digital display behind the steering wheel. On the wheel, the different driving modes on offer (Ice, Wet, Dry and Sport) are shown, while the smooth leather seats, with the Prancing Horse stitched into the headrest, are zoomed in on in greater detail.

The infotainment screen, which has the size and proportions of an iPad, with the curved edges of an iPhone, has Ive’s previous work written all over it. Physical buttons run along the bottom of the screen to dictate things like climate control, while the whole screen is shown rotating from side to side. Similarly, we are shown how the steering wheel and digital display can be moved in unison to the driver’s preference.

The most exciting part of the video showed the Luce’s launch control system being activated by pulling down on a grip located above the driver’s head, much like in a helicopter.

As the launch of the Ferrari Luce edges ever closer, the final set of details, including price and performance statistics, will be revealed in Italy in May.
