Ferrari Enzo surpasses £1.7m in Collecting Cars auction

Bidding for rare Ferrari ends on Tuesday 13th May

Collecting Cars is currently offering one of the rarest and most iconic supercars of the 21st century in its latest online auction - the Ferrari Enzo.

The rare Enzo is finished in Rosso Corsa with rare factory-fit Rosso leather detailing, and comes with less than 15,000 miles on the clock from new. It has been with the same owner for the last 18 years and is one of a small number of UK-delivered examples of the car. Originally supplied by Meridien Modena in Hampshire, the car comes with a comprehensive Ferrari main dealer and specialist service history.

With the majority of Enzo’s now in private collections around the world, will this example be used as it was originally intended?

Ferrari Enzo History

Named after the main man himself and launched in 2002, the Ferrari Enzo was the last limited edition supercar produced at Maranello to be sold with a V12 engine and succeeded the F50 from the late 1990s. Only 400 of the Enzo were made before it made way for the hybrid LaFerrari in 2014. It still remains one of the most desirable supercars ever made for collectors and petrolheads alike.

Equally at home on the road and track, its 6.0-litre F140B V12 engine is paired with Ferrari’s six-speed F1-derived automated manual gearbox, delivering 651bhp and 0-62mph in 3.1 seconds.

The example up for auction was manufactured in 2004, making it one of the last to come out of the factory gates in Italy before production of the car finished in the same year.

Coincidentally, considering events of the past week, the 400th example off the production line was intended to be gifted to Pope John Paul II. While he appreciated the gift, he requested that it be sold to raise funds for the tsunami relief efforts around that time. The then Pope was unable to see the eventual auction at Maranello in June 2005 after passing a couple of months prior, however, Ferrari honoured their promise to him and the funds were passed to his successor, Pope Benedict XVI, to give to charitable causes.

“One of the most important Ferraris of the modern era”

Edward Lovett, Founder and CEO of Collecting Cars, said: “The Enzo is one of the most important Ferraris of the modern era – a car that captured the spirit of early 2000s Formula 1 and marked the end of Ferrari’s analogue flagship lineage. It even laid the groundwork for the track-only FXX programme that followed. For collectors, the chance to acquire a UK-delivered, Classiche-certified car with this level of provenance and originality is exceptionally rare, and a reminder of the Enzo’s lasting significance in Ferrari’s story. With bidding already off to a strong start, I’d advise anyone seriously interested not to wait!”

The State of Play

At the time of writing, bidding for the Ferrari Enzo is at £1,700,500 after 19 bids, with the auction set to end on Tuesday 13 May. You can follow its progress here.
