Caterham unveils Seven Miami Special Edition

Formula 1 finally returns from a long hiatus this week with the Miami Grand Prix, and British brand Caterham has decided to join the party by revealing a brand new special edition.

Fans will get the chance to see the new track-only Caterham Seven Miami Special Edition on Friday 1st May, on Race Street of the Miami International Autodrome, where this weekend’s race will be held.

Exterior

The Seven’s exterior is pure Miami and represents the city’s colourful automotive culture, combining a bespoke Aqua custom paint with a Vibrant Pink and White decal pack. The design is finished with the famous Miami script on the side and rear, while the rear also displays a silhouette of the Miami International Autodrome circuit.

Interior

Inside, that same Miami script is embroidered on the headrests, and each model will have an individual numbered plaque on the dashboard. A second plaque in the engine bay is engraved with the names and signatures of the two builders responsible for putting the hand-built Seven together at Caterham’s UK factory.

Powertrain & Performance

Powered by a 2.0-litre Ford Duratec engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, the Seven Miami Special Edition puts out 210bhp at 7,600rpm and has a power-to-weight ratio of 375 bhp-per-tonne. A 0-60mph sprint takes just 3.8 seconds, while its top speed is 136mph. Similar to other Seven special editions, then, but there’s nothing wrong with that.

“The very best of lightweight British engineering”

Trevor Steel, Senior Vice President of Operations, Caterham Cars said:“Miami has become a global hub for elite motorsport and luxury automotive culture, so to have this moment to unveil the Miami Special Edition is truly unique. This car represents the very best of lightweight British engineering, and seeing the car launched and on display at the race weekend will be a significant moment for our brand.”

How many will be made?

Only 12 Miami Special Editions will be available to buy, with Caterham offering those interested the chance 10 of the 12 examples through its dealer network in the USA. Prices are available on application.
