This military-spec Call of Duty Aston Martin Dreadnought needs to be in showrooms

Sometimes a press release can grab you simply by its cover image.

This is exactly what happened with the Aston Martin Dreadnought. At first, I thought, wow, how has Aston Martin kept this so quiet? Is this the company’s attempt at its own Cybertruck?

Then, reality kicks in, and a closer inspection of the press release reveals it is a digital-only model that will ‘exclusively’ grace the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 video game. What a shame. I’d have looked forward to seeing one of these coming towards me on a leisurely drive around Dorset.

Alas, that won’t be happening. But this collaboration between Aston Martin and the game’s developers Infinity Ward and Activision shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. The recently released 007 First Light James Bond video game saw several Aston Martin models pop up throughout the story, starting with a 2006 Aston Martin DBS V12 during Bond’s training segment in Malta. Then, the player is treated to a drive in a Lord Brett Sinclair Persuaders yellow 1970 Aston Martin DBS in one of the first missions of the game, before an appearance by a kitted-out Valhalla during the game’s finale.

The key Dreadnought details

However, those are all models that have graced our roads, and Aston Martin’s Design team says that the Dreadnought’s conception was made all the easier because they were able to enjoy ‘the freedom of working without the restraints of the physical world’.

Powered by a V12 engine, but guided by the physics of the Modern Warfare universe, the Dreadnought is Aston Martin’s vision of the most extreme SUV design language possible. As expected for a military vehicle, it has a carbon fibre exterior and comes with advanced armour tech and adaptive combat zone intelligence systems, along with military grade armour-plating. Oh, and options available include reserve fuel tanks and bespoke weapons storage.

Inside there’s a luxury feel, with Oxford Tan leather dashboard and door panel details complemented by a metallic gold gear lever.

As for the name Dreadnought, which has a dictionary definition of “fear nothing”, it was used on a famous early 20th Century British warship, HMS Dreadnought, which was part of a new class of warship for the navy in the early 1900s.

“I had to imagine Dreadnought not only as a digital asset, but as a vehicle living in the real world”

Commenting on the debut of Dreadnought in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, said: “The team have hugely enjoyed the not inconsiderable challenge of redefining what an Aston Martin can be when the only limit is imagination.

“To create the ultimate exotic off-road machine, I had to imagine Dreadnought not only as a digital asset, but as a vehicle living in the real world—navigating the streets of New York, powering through the monsoon-soaked roads of Mumbai, and performing with complete authenticity in every environment. That vision allowed us to create something that feels genuinely real, even within the immersive world of the game.

“To me, Dreadnought is unmistakably an Aston Martin – amplified without restraint. The quality of the details we have been able to include, right down to the iconic Chiltern Green paint colour so synonymous with this marque, underscores our dedication to delivering a truly authentic Aston Martin experience. Features as diverse as the carbon fibre chassis right through to exquisite elements such as the door hinges in anodised Satin Gold, reflect our real-world determination to be the most desirable ultra-luxury brand in the automotive sector, and beyond.”

Can you see it in person?

While it may never appear in showrooms, fans will get the chance to see the Dreadnought in real life when it makes its global debut at the Call of Duty stand at Fanatics Fest in New York. The game itself will be released on Friday 23rd October 2026, when players will be able to locate it in key points of interest within both DMZ and Call of Duty: Warzone modes.
