Setting any potential buyer back a whopping £500k is F1 legend Ayrton Senna’s Honda NSX which comes with 39,100 miles on the clock since being registered in 1991.

The red NSX is currently owned by Robert McFagan from East Sussex, UK and represents the chance to own a piece of automotive history. The car was kept at Senna’s home in Portugal during his ownership. He was famously photographed washing the car in 1991 and it was also featured performing a wheel spin in the 1992 film “Racing is in My Blood” which delves into the background of the Brazilian icon.

The car’s interior styling was inspired by the cockpit of an F-16 fighter jet. It boasted a powerful 3.0 litre V6 engine, responsive handling and excellent aerodynamics with Senna himself providing input during the final stages of development. The NSX was a favourite car of Senna’s, so much so that he owned two others in black.

The red NSX was driven to the Imola Circuit in 2019 by Giancarlo Minardi, 25 years after the Brazilian lost his life there during the San Marino Grand Prix at the age of 34. Senna had won three world titles with McLaren and 41 races in Formula 1 at the time of his death and is still adored in his home country and worldwide.

The brilliant documentary ‘Senna’, directed by Asif Kapadia, depicts his life and death in Formula 1 and was critically acclaimed winning two BAFTAs for Best Documentary and Best Editing.

Robert McFagan, current owner of Senna’s Honda NSX commented, ‘I first bought the car in 2013 during a trip to the Algarve in Portugal and have owned it ever since where it has sat proudly at my estate in East Sussex. Senna’s red NSX was given to him by Honda who he had a commercial partnership with and Senna frequently used and was photographed with the car during his stays in Portugal.

‘Being a huge Senna fan myself, I was delighted when I was able to get my hands on the NSX which was crafted to perfection and features a sleek and powerful machine to give an incredible experience on the road. It’s been a real pleasure owning what is one of the most famous cars belonging to a true sporting legend and the thrill of driving Senna’s car never goes away.’
