Audi unveils Concept C - production version set for 2027 release

Say hello to the Audi Concept C, a new all-electric two-seat sports car that the German brand says will shape its new design philosophy and pave the way for future models. Audi has called it ‘a defining moment for the four rings,’ and a derivative of this concept will be put into production in 2027.

The roadster features a new roof concept made up of two elements that allows the transition from coupé to convertible without losing its distinctive monolithic body style. Audi has gone for a minimalist look, with a new vertical frame, or grille, inspired by the Auto Union Type C from 1936 and the third-generation Audi A6 from 2004, featuring a four-element light signature (inspired by Audi’s four rings) as part of the refreshed future look.

The electric two-seater has a central-battery layout, which shaped the design of the concept. From the R8-looking rear, the simplistic design has no rear window and carries a scaled-down Lamborghini Aventador-style look.

Concept C is finished in Titanium metal colour, which is inspired by the material’s ‘precision, lightness and strength’.

Inside, Concept C continues the simplistic, minimalist theme with a foldable 10.4-inch centre display accessed with the touch of a button, being the main attraction. Everything is seamlessly integrated along with the haptic controls on the steering wheel and centre console, giving the driver everything they need. There are actual physical buttons, bucking the modern-day touchscreen-only controls that seem awash in the latest generation of vehicles.

Overall, for a concept, it’s relatively sensible.

Let’s wait and see what 2027 brings, but all signs point to this concept being pretty close to the real deal.
