Aston Martin DB12 Goldfinger Edition celebrates 60 years of the iconic James Bond film
In 1964, Aston Martin first appeared in the James Bond films with its iconic DB5 gracing the screen in Goldfinger. That relationship has continued into the present day, and now 60 years later, the British marque has unveiled a DB12 in tribute to the film.
The DB12 Goldfinger Edition is the work of Q by Aston Martin, the marque’s personalisation and bespoke service. While it may not possess the same gadgets added by Q in the films, the service offers ‘endless possibilities’ and customers are brought along on the journey when personalising their models.
Powertrain and Exterior
Like the regular DB12, the special edition is powered by the same 4.0 litre V8 twin-turbo engine, producing 670hp and 800Nm of torque. However, subtle touches have been incorporated into the DB12 referencing the film.
The same Silver Birch paint colour used on the DB5 in Goldfinger has been reused here and the DB12 sits on 21-inch multi-spoke wheels with a unique silver and diamond finish. These are complemented by black brake calipers, gold side strakes and a unique black and silver Aston Martin logo.
Golden Interior Touches
Inside, Sports Plus seats are finished in a DB5 fluted style with a Prince of Wales check perforation pattern seen on many a James Bond suit. This pattern extends to the door inserts and is etched onto a unique treadplate. The Goldfinger 60th anniversary logo is printed onto a polished sill plaque, verifying its unique status.
The golden touch is further seen using 18k Gold Plated accents to decorate the rotary dial and roller controls, along with the gear selector, the design of which was inspired by the golden tracking device used by Bond in the film. More gold is weaved into the 2X2 Twill Gloss Carbon Fibre used on the trim inlays.
An ’eight of hearts’ is embroidered onto the driver’s sun visor, a nod to the last card drawn by Auric Goldfinger during his card game by the pool at Miami’s Fontainbleu Hotel.
Extra Goodies
Buyers of the Aston Martin DB12 Goldfinger Edition will be given a range of exclusive gifts. These include a custom car cover and luxury key presentation box, along with a Silver Birch Speedform model and a section of the iconic Furka Pass scene in Goldfinger in 35mm film.
As well as a limited edition Aston Martin magazine, a Globe-Trotter attaché case in the same Silver Birch body and Prince of Wales check interior is offered with a magnum of 2007 vintage Bollinger and four 007 glasses.
“The relationship between Aston Martin and the James Bond franchise is something that is always treasured”, said Marco Mattiacci, Global Chief Brand and Commercial Officer. “It is an incredible occasion to be able to recognise six decades of this partnership with an extraordinary special edition, and pay homage to the very first - and perhaps most famous Aston Martin Bond car. Incorporating these subtle but impactful touches, developed by our own ‘Q’ department has created a very unique offering; one that will be adored by Bond fans across the world.
Just 60 DB12 Goldfinger Editions will be released worldwide with the first deliveries taking place in Q2 2025.
