Aston Martin Racing

Aston Martin Racing has announced its 2024 factory driver roster featuring a blend of youth and experience as the British brand looks to make its mark on a new era of competition in GT racing.

Included in the nine-strong roster is triple FIA World Endurance GT champion Marco Sørensen who, amongst his many successful outings, won the 24 Hours of Le Mans LM GTE class in 2022 and was the GTD class winner in the Rolex 24 Hours 12 in January 2023 with the Vantage. The Dane has signed a multi-year contract with Aston Martin, committing his long term future with the brand and will race as part of D’station Racing’s 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship line-up.

Another Dane, Nicki Thiim, has also agreed a long term deal as he is set to begin his 12th season in a row with Aston Martin. Thiim partnered Sørensen when the pair won their two FIA WEC GTE Pro titles in 2016 and the 2019/20 season. He recently secured a maiden GTD class podium in this year’s Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona when competing with partner team Magnus Racing.

The shake up to the Aston Martin works line-up in 2024 features three new drivers as Mattia Drudi, Henrique Chaves and David Pittard all join, bringing plenty of winning experience.

Italian Drudi is the reigning GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup champion and joins the team after five seasons as a works Audi driver. Portuguese driver Chaves was a class winner at the 2022 edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans and Brit Pittard is the reigning Nürburgring 24 Hours champion.

Continuing with Heart of Racing in 2024 is IMSA GTD Pro race winner Ross Gunn. The Brit has been part of the Aston Martin Racing family since 2015 and will race alongside Alex Riberas at America’s premier endurance championship.

Also continuing their long association with AMR is Britain’s Jonny Adam who returns for his 14th season with the brand. Among his many achievements are two 24 Hours of Le Mans wins, four British GT championships and winning the 2017 GTWC Europe Endurance Cup Pro-Am.

2021 AMR Driver Academy graduate Valentin Hasse Clot builds on his success since joining the AMR works driver team in 2022 by stepping up to the European Le Mans Series class in 2024 with the Racing Spirit of Léman team. The French driver won the Michelin Le Mans Cup title last season and has previously won Silver Class titles in the GTWC Europe Endurance Cup and FFSA GT series in France.

Completing the line up is Aston Martin legend Darren Turner, who added victory in the GTD class of the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona in 2023 to his three 24 Hours of Le Mans class wins. The Brit is about to embark on his 20th season as a works Aston Martin Racing driver and adds a wealth of experience and guidance to the young emerging talent on the team.

Adam Carter, Aston Martin Head of Endurance, said: “As we prepare to embark on a new era for Aston Martin in endurance racing, with the advent of newly-developed evolutions of our Aston Martin Vantage GT3 and GT4 platforms, and of course the Valkyrie Hypercar programme that becomes a racing entity in 2025, we’ve assembled an ultra-competitive works driver line-up. This group of drivers knows how to win and is expert at extracting every ounce of performance from a GT car, while at the same time harnessing the endurance capabilities necessary to win at this level. We’re delighted to welcome three proven champions in Mattia, Henrique and David to this group, and we’re excited to see what they can all achieve in 2024 and beyond.
