Osprey Ramps Up EV charging network rollout

As the world makes the gradual transition towards majority EV use, the problems surrounding this change have been clear to see. The charging network infrastructure is currently not yet capable of handling such widespread use of electric vehicles. However, change is on the horizon.

Osprey Charging, one of the UK’s leading networks of rapid electric vehicle charging points, has been increasing the installation of charges this year. From January to March, 142 new rapid Osprey EV charging stations went live in 10 weeks, equalling the number of charge points installed throughout 2022. The new figures refer to live charge points that are open for public use and they aren't stopping there, with another 50 chargers due to be installed and made live in April 2023.

We know that it is difficult to visit a service station in the UK without seeing a whole row of Tesla Supercharger points, so if you currently own a Tesla, you’re already well provided for during long journeys. However, for those of you with a different taste who are keeping an eye on the latest EV releases before taking the plunge into ownership, the infrastructure is growing to cater to your needs. Osprey is now the fourth largest GB-wide public rapid charging network, with 536 rapid chargers nationwide. By the end of 2023, at this expected pace, there are due to be over 1000 of these available for public use.

You can expect even greater growth in the near future, as Ian Johnston, the CEO of Osprey Charging Network explains:

“Over the next two years, we will invest over £100 million expanding our nationwide public charging network, establishing the much-needed national infrastructure that drivers can trust and rely on.”
