Vauxhall Mokka revealed with new modern look

The Vauxhall Mokka has been given a modern refresh to bring it on par with its other compact SUV competitors.

Exterior

Styling changes have been purposefully made in a subtle way with new LED lights at the front and rear the most noticeable change. The three lighting blocks are a more modern interpretation and are seen on other Vauxhall models, including the Frontera and Corsa. It is all part of the black Vizor, which integrates the headlights and Griffin badge into one element.

New aero wheels available on the Mokka Electric are part of Vauxhall’s ‘Greenovation’ approach which also includes a more aerodynamic front bumper. Chrome applications seen on the exterior of the previous iteration have been let go in favour of a black accent line running from the bonnet, along the top of the side windows, to the boot.

Interior

The interior fabrics are also more environmentally friendly and are made from recycled materials. There’s a new sporty steering wheel and the centre console is now in a matt silver tone. Buttons make way for a central colour touchscreen as part of a more simplistic cockpit design, alongside a 10-inch digital driver information display. Some switches have remained for the electric parking brake and driving mode selection. Voice recognition is one of the ways to personalise the infotainment system, which is all compatible wirelessly with Apple CarPlay and Android, while using ChatGPT to constantly learn and adapt. A 180-degree rear view camera helps with city parking.

Powertrain and Trim Choices

The new Mokka is available in ‘Design’, ‘GS’ and Ultimate trims and customers have the choice between a petrol, hybrid and fully electric version.

The Mokka Electric has a 54kWh battery and 154bhp electric motor, offering a range of 250 miles. A 0-80% charge can be done in 30 minutes using a 100kW charger. The battery is in an underfloor location to save space and give it a low centre of gravity, helping it achieve quick acceleration with 260Nm of torque available.

The Mokka Hybrid combines a 134bhp 1.2 turbocharged petrol engine with a 28bhp 21kW electric motor and six-speed dual-clutch transmission. Pure electric mode can be used at low speeds for short periods for better fuel efficiency.

For those still wishing to stock with petrol power, the 134bhp turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with a six-speed manual gearbox is your go-to.

By the end of the year, all Vauxhall cars - including the new Mokka, Frontera and Grandland - and vans will be available with fully electric versions.
