Smith and Sniff to headline 2024 Hagerty Festival of the Unexceptional

Hagerty’s Festival of the Unexceptional has announced Jonny Smith and Richard Porter, AKA Smith and Sniff, as main stage guests for this year’s 10th-anniversary event. The pair will take to the stage for three interactive stage shows including The Wheeltrim of Misfortune, Chod Swap Shop and a live Smith and Sniff podcast recording.

Smith started his career in car mags, working for VW mag, Max Power and CAR Magazine before becoming a presenter on Channel 5’s Fifth Gear. Nowadays, as well as hosting teaming up with Porter, he runs the YouTube channel The Late Brake Show.

Porter was part of the old Top Gear format in the late 1990s and, in his spare time, started the website sniffpetrol.com, a satirical look at the car world. He then went on to become the script editor for the successful 2002-2015 Top Gear iteration and now writes scripts for various TV shows, as well as contributing to several magazines and newspapers. Poter has written 25 plus books including the Boring Car Trivia series.

Mark Roper, Managing Director of Hagerty International, said “We wanted to celebrate 10 years of the Hagerty Festival of the Unexceptional with some very special guests, and what better than to have Smith and Sniff on the FOTU stage. Their infectious humour will bring the stage to life, and I look forward to seeing FOTU guests taking part in the trio of fun activities we have announced today.”

Also at the festival, owners of Unexceptional cars can apply to be part of the Concours De L'ordinare event where nominated cars will be judged by experts. Fifty cars will then be chosen to form the main Concours event.

Hagerty’s Festival of the Unexceptional takes place on Saturday 27th July at Grimsthorpe Castle, Lincolnshire. Tickets are priced at £35 per car.
