Osprey Opens New Ultra-Rapid Charging Hub in Essex

Time and time again, people inside and outside of the automotive world have come to the same conclusion: the success of electric vehicles (EVs) in the long term is dependent on the infrastructure available to owners who need a rapid charge. Last month, we brought you news from the people at Osprey Charging, one of the UK’s largest and leading EV charging networks, which planned to ramp up its number of locations around the country. Well, it looks like they are sticking to their word, as a new charging station has just opened and is ready for use.

Osprey’s latest ultra-rapid charging hub, located in Essex at The Halfway House’s on the A127 just off the M25, features six high-powered, easy to use, EV chargers next to the UK’s busiest motorway. The local community should benefit even further, with Osprey promising to help support local decarbonisation efforts, with the aim of improving air quality and reducing noise pollution.

There’s no need to fear whether your specific EV will align with its corresponding charger as the chargers are all compatible with every EV on the market and are powered by 100% renewable energy. Around 100 miles of charge can be added in 15-20 minutes and 180kW is delivered to those vehicles capable of accepting it when plugged in.

At the Halfway House charging hub, the overhead lighting and canopies create a sheltered environment for your charge and contactless payment is accepted.

In the first quarter of 2023, Osprey installed as many chargers as it did in 2022 alone. As the 2030 ban on petrol and diesel sales draws ever closer, Osprey will look to build further momentum in delivering chargers and will invest £100m in improving its infrastructure over the next couple of years.
