Nissan Hyper Tourer Concept Unveiled in Japan

The Nissan Hyper Tourer was unveiled today, the third in Nissan’s series of electric vehicle concepts to be displayed at the Japan Mobility Show starting on October 25th. The EV concepts stem from Nissan’s long term vision of sustainability and its Ambition 2030 which will see the Japanese brand aim to have 50% electrification across its range by the end of the decade and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

In the words of Nissan, the car is aimed at “individuals who appreciate the finer things in life and enjoy the company of friends and associates” and incorporates advanced technology, including autonomous driving. This enables those in front seats to swivel 360 degrees and face each other. Rear seat passengers have the ability to operate the navigation and audio on the centre display and in what may be seen as an invasion of your privacy, AI is used to monitor your biometric signs, selecting music and lighting to fit your mood.

Luxury is the aim of the game here and the spacious interior is made possible thanks to the Nissan EV Technology Vision, which. consolidates compact components. This, married to the advanced e-4ORCE all-wheel control system produces smooth acceleration and deceleration reaffirming the luxuriousness.

The overhead console and lighting feature traditional Japanese Kumiko and koushi patterns that create a sense of luxury, while the flat LED panel on the floor displays imagery of a riverbed and the sky giving you a floating feeling.

The distinctive exterior is composed of smooth body panels and sharp character lines aimed to improve aerodynamic performance. Kumiko patterned wheels (the same pattern seen in the interior) and the white waistline which serves as a headlight and signature lamp are certainly distinctive features, although judging by the photos, speed bumps will need to be approached with caution.

The Japan Mobility Show takes place from Thursday 26th October to Sunday 5th November.
