Skoda has confirmed the news that the new Superb - unlike the new Volkswagen Passat - won’t be available only as an Estate but will also be available as a regular Hatch. The latest drip of information to come from Skoda gives us more of an insight into what to expect before the full reveal in November.

Despite the camoflauge clad Superb in the press images, we can clearly see that the new iteration of this traditional body variant has grown in length and height and is more of a sculptural design. Also noticeable is the redesigned octagonal grille and updated door handles.  

Inside, the cabin is to feel roomier and the dashboard comes with a 13-inch infotainment display and smart dials. These rotary push-buttons, each with a small digital display, allow quick and easy access to the many different vehicle functions. Skoda has tried to be as eco-friendly as possible and much of the interior has been made using sustainable materials. The textiles used are made of 100% recycled polyester.

Skoda hasn’t committed fully to electrification yet and there will be no pure electric version of the Superb in this generation. There are six new engine options for the Skoda Superb including three petrols, two diesels and a plug-in hybrid, which can run on 52 miles of electric power alone. There is to be no manual option anymore and all versions come with a seven speed automatic gearbox as standard.
