Meet Hennessey's ‘Venom 775’ F-150

Texas-based manufacturer Hennessey has reintroduced its updated Venom 775 – a Ford F-150-based pickup fitted with a supercharged V8 that offers more horsepower and torque than the factory RAM TRX and Ford Raptor R.

As originally intended, the Ford F-150 comes with the 5.0-litre Ti-VCT V8 but Hennessey has bolted on a 3.0-litre supercharger to increase intake pressure and add an air to water intercooler to lower the charge temperature. The fuel injectors and fuel system are upgraded, and a high-flow air induction system is installed. A stainless-steel cat-back exhaust is mounted to reduce back pressure and improve the exhaust note.

The mechanical upgrades are complemented with Hennessey’s Engine Management Calibration to deliver a new output of 775 bhp and 727 lb-ft of torque – a 94% increase in power and a 77% increase in torque. A 0-60mph time of just 3.6 seconds and a quarter mile time of 11.9 seconds are remarkably impressive.

The Venom 775 is now sitting six inches higher on 20-inch 'Hennessey' 10-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in 35-inch off-road tyres to make it even more comfortable off-road. The suspension is upgraded, and multi-piston Brembo brakes with red callipers shorten stopping distances and add visual impact. A 'Hennessey Venom' front bumper, with LED illumination, is matched to the 'Hennessey Venom' bumper on the rear.

Mazda rotary engine production passes two million units

Mazda has announced that the total production volume of Mazda rotary engine vehicles has surpassed two million units.

The first vehicle Mazda equipped with a rotary engine was the Mazda Cosmo Sport (Mazda 110S), introduced in 1967. In the subsequent decades, Mazda worked on fine tuning the performance of their rotary engines by improving output, fuel economy and durability.

In June this year, Mazda resumed production of rotary engine vehicles - in its production of the Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV - for the first time in eleven years after having ended production of the Mazda RX-8 in 2012.
