Lotus Unveils its First Hyper GT, Emeya

In a global premiere in the heart of New York City, Lotus today unveiled Emeya, a car that the company is calling its first four-door hyper-GT.

We know that after the release of the Emira, Lotus is now fully in the electric vehicle making business and the latest offering will take inspiration from its 75 years of engineering and design to make a car that is exciting to drive. Advanced aerodynamic features such as the active front grille, rear diffuser and rear spoiler combine with what Lotus is calling ‘hyperstance’, which enhances stability when driving thanks to the low centre of gravity. It also has an electronically controlled air suspension system that uses onboard sensors to feel the road surface 1,000 times a second and adjust the car automatically for a smoother ride. All very advanced.

Various different specs will be available on release, however for the highest spec model, a top speed of more than 155mph and a 0-62mph time of under 2.8 seconds is all achievable thanks to Lotus’ high-power dual motor set-up. When released, it will become one of the fastest electric GTs in the world.

In terms of range, Lotus claims to have ‘market leading charging capabilities’ which will allow 93 miles of range to be added with approximately five minutes of charge using a 350kW DC fast charger. As well as this, in 18 minutes, range is able to be boosted by up to 80%.

Production is expected to begin in 2024 and Emeya has been designed to be made sustainably using various repurposed materials.

Emeya joins as a flagship model in Lotus’ line-up of luxury lifestyle electric vehicles, part of the company’s vision to become a global performance brand by 2028.
