Red Bull launch F1 title defence challenger

Red Bull became the final team to launch its car for the 2024 Formula 1 season at a special launch event this week at its factory in Milton Keynes.

Named RB20, the car isn’t too dissimilar to previous years’ efforts in terms of livery, as the team sticks with its traditional navy blue. However, the car - principally designed by Adrian Newey - has a more aggressive look with long cooling gulleys running from the halo along the length of the engine cover and has drawn similarities to Mercedes’ 2023 car.

Bettering last year will be difficult for the reigning champions as they completed the most dominant season in the history of the sport, winning 21 out of 22 races. Max Verstappen will be the strong favourite to defend his title as regulations remain the same as last year.

For Red Bull, the build-up to the 2024 season has been marred by allegations made against team principal Christian Horner. The 50 year old was present at the launch of the car as an investigation continues in the background into alleged inappropriate behaviour. He continues to deny all allegations.

Pre-season testing takes place between February 21st and February 23rd at the Bahrain International Circuit before the opening race at the same location one week later.
