INEOS Grenadier Quartermaster Production Begins

After its unveiling at the Goodwood Festival in July, the first series production of Grenadier Quartermasters began rolling off the production line at INEOS Automotive’s facility in Hambach, France ahead of the beginning of customer deliveries in Europe next month. Like the standard Grenadier, but with an American pickup truck feel, the release of the Quartermaster continues INEOS’ rapid imprint into the automotive world.

The five-seat double cab Quartermaster was developed alongside the Grenadier Station Wagon and has been engineered to be as capable off-road but with a greater load-carrying ability. It also shares the same full box-section ladder frame chassis, heavy-duty solid beam axles, two-speed transfer case, and up to three locking differentials as the Station Wagon. There’s a choice to be made regarding power, with the Quartermaster available in both BMW 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder petrol or diesel engines and has four-wheel drive through an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF.

The Quartermaster - named after the senior military officer responsible for the supply and distribution of provisions - is the largest Grenadier available at 305mm longer than the Station Wagon and can carry up to 760kg. For conversion specialists and commercial use, a chassis cab model version will be entering production next year.

“The start of production for our second model line is another extremely exciting and important milestone for INEOS Automotive,” said Lynn Calder, CEO, INEOS Automotive. “As part of the final sign-off process, I drove a late prototype in both Spain and the African bush and it’s unbeatable off-road, combining the rugged capability and refined performance of the Station Wagon with the enormous load bay that can carry a huge amount of kit and cargo. It’s a great addition to our model line-up.”

Quartermasters will continue to roll off the production line at the facility in Hambach - acquired from Mercedes in 2021. Deliveries to Asia Pacific, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East will follow soon after European customers receive their Quartermasters, with North American sales scheduled to begin in early 2024.
