First batch of Renault 5 E-Techs arrive in the UK

200 production models dock near Bristol

Just one month after orders opened for the widely praised Renault 5 E-Tech, we’ve seen the first appear on UK shores where they’ll head to retailers ahead of first deliveries in spring.

A shipment of over 200 electric hot hatches made the trip across the Channel to Portbury Docks near Bristol after being prepared at Renault’s Douai production line in France. The first off the Neptune Aegli ship was finished in the, now iconic, Pop Yellow colour that is certainly proving popular with punters. The vast majority of 5s on board were finished in Pop Yellow as well as Pop Green, with Renault hoping the new vehicles add a “splash of colour to the UK’s roads.”

Award after award

The Renault 5 E-Tech appears to have finally satisfied the need for a truly cool EV, taking the much-loved retro design of the 5 - first seen in 1972 - and translating it into a modern day electric hot hatch.

It is rare to see such a universally positive reaction towards a car, and this has been reflected in its impressive number of awards already gathered by the 5. As well as the prestigious Car of the Year 2025 award - an honour it shared with the Alpine A290 - the 5 E-Tech has received 15 awards from the UK media, including the What Car? Car of the Year and Top Gear Car of the Year.

How much is the Renault 5 E-Tech?

Priced from £22,995 OTR, the 5 is available in three trim levels - Evolution, Techno and Iconic Five. The two powertrains are the 118bhp Urban range and 148bhp Comfort range, which tips the scales at £28,995.

The Renault 5 E-Tech has up to 248 miles of driving range, with rapid charging available across all variants.
