BMW Introduces iX1 New Entry Level eDrive20

BMW has expanded its all-electric offering with the introduction of the iX1 eDrive 20 which is available to order now. A newer, more economical, variant of its popular Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), the iX1 eDrive 20 is the same spacious model inside and is powered by a single electric motor, offering a range of 268 to 296 miles.

Available from delivery at the start of production in November 2023, prices for the eDrive20 start at £44,560, making it the cheapest iX1 model currently available.

Various different specs are available with Sport being the cheapest at £44,560. xLine (£46,560) and M Sport (£49,310) come in at a slightly higher price, but all versions are equipped with BMW's latest iDrive system, featuring a 10.7-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch instrument cluster which are both connected as part of a curved panel.

The car develops 204PS and 247Nm, enabling it to accelerate from 0-62mph in 8.6 seconds and uses the same battery as the iX1 xDrive30, with a usable capacity of 64.7kWh. A full charge can be done in 6.5 hours and supports AC charging at up to 11kW. However, for a faster charging time of 3.75 hours, a 22kW charger is available as an option. If you’re lucky to live near a rapid 130kW public charger, a 10% to 80% charge can be done in just under half an hour.

Alongside the iX1 xDrive30, the latest model will be manufactured at the BMW Group plant in Regensburg, Germany.
